Thursday night rolled around and we hit up Upper Crust Pizza with Jen. As we were leaving, I decided at the last second to go with Bread Loafers to Tent Rocks. It is about 45 minutes from campus and is full of cone-shaped tent rock formations. They were created by volcanic eruptions 6 to 7 million years ago! The group was going to stop at Cochiti Lake on the way home and have lunch and swim, but I decided to ride with someone who was coming back early after the Tent Rocks hike. Please excuse the ridiculous number of photos, but the land lends itself to this amount of photography!
So, this area is on the Pajarito Plateau and even though we got there around ten, it was HOT. The hike up, as you’ll see in the photos, follows a tight canyon for a time and that was nice. Then, as you begin to ascend up the cliffs to the overlook, the sun just blazes. The view from the top was worth the heat and it was a nice hike.
Isn’t it just ridiculous?! Since Aubry, a fellow computer lab attendant, had to get back before her shift at one, we hustled down the path pretty quickly, which was fine. When I got back, I ran some errands, did some schoolwork, walked the dogs, and then Bryan got off work and we had dinner and watched a movie. It was a nice day!
