A long weekend of friends from long hours away

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: We have pretty great friends. DSC_0038

And not just the dogs.

Katie and Danny arrived Thursday late morning and so did Sam and Paul. It was bound to be a good weekend with this crew in tow. DSC_0043 DSC_0041 DSC_0044

Things that happened during their visit:

Sam and Paul mountain biked with Bryguy on Thursday.

We ate at Marias and I introduced a whole new group of people to the glory of the so papilla. They’ll never be the same again.

We walked around the plaza, hit up the Draft Station, and played some ping pong.

It rained. Often.

Sam and Paul mountain biked some more.

We had burritos and checked out the plaza.

We got massive amounts of food, made kabobs, and Paul grilled them. We drank the other dangerously smooth tequila which S&P brought. So good. DSC_0064 DSC_0066 DSC_0068 DSC_0069 DSC_0070 DSC_0071 DSC_0074 DSC_0076 DSC_0077 DSC_0079 DSC_0080

We ate and ate and ate. Then we ate smokes. And I sang loudly and horribly.

The dogs tried to dig up many chipmunks.

A record number of water buckets were brought to the pop-up and then a record number of humans showered (Paul in the creek, but still).

We found several Regal Horned Lizards and some other kind of lizard that looks like a dried up pine cone on the hillsides at camp. I think mine was a Hernandez’s Short-Horned Lizard.

Sam, Paul, and I mountain biked part of the Winsor. It was glorious.

Then Sam, Paul, and Nimbus left, which is horrible.

Katie, Danny, Bryguy and I went to Upper Crust and ate us some pizza.

Katie, Danny, and I went to Cafe Pasqual’s for breakfast and it was muy delicioso. Katie’s mom urged us to go and she was so right. Katie had smoked trout on a gruyere potato pancake and I had a Durango omelette that was full of every delicious thing, including but not limited to avocado, wild mushrooms, and green chile. Seriously. So. Good. We took pictures of paper mache animals and went to a shop I’d like to return to very much.

Katie dressed the dogs up in her accessories. Klue was down for it, Nitsa not so much. DSC_0081 DSC_0094 DSC_0092 DSC_0090 DSC_0087 DSC_0085 DSC_0084

Then we walked the Borrego, Bear Wallow, Winsor triangle. Kelly and Danny had a nice time, I think!

After that, we made stir fry, ate it, and drank beverages.

Then we soaked our bones at Ten Thousand Waves spa. The sauna was hot and the cold plunge was Lake Superior Cold. I lasted the longest in the sauna, which should indicate to Bryan what the next project needs to be at Circular Lodgic.

Then Danny and Katie left, which was horrible.
