Copper Dog 150 pictures, a month out from it…

Spring break is here, despite that I’m seeing snow fall outside my windows as I write. We had a week of weather in the 50s, so I’m not complaining. Too much…

We volunteered once again at the Copper Dog 150 Sled Dog Race. We were at a road crossing. It wasn’t as fun as last year when we had friends along for the ride, but we had a nice time and no matter how many times you’ve seen it, you’re still in awe of the steam coming off those dogs as your fingers freeze out there. They are incredibly beautiful and powerful and I felt pretty lucky to get to be that close to them as they head for darker stretches and a long night. I tried to set up a nice shot, but it was too dark to get anything but blurs as they rushed by:

Sunday we headed to Calumet to watch the finish and here at the shots I got:

The best moment was when 3 teams all came in together. The two that got in front crossed the finish together and shared the moment.

This guy hustled in at the end, getting off to run with his dogs.
